 Dr. T. P. Sivakumar,
D.D.S., M. Dent.Sc., has opened a new Pediatric Dental office at
57A
Thomas Johnson Drive,
Frederick,
Maryland.
He is board-certified and a Diplomate of the American Board of
Pediatric Dentistry.
Upon
receiving his dental degree from the University of Madras, India
in 1989, Dr. Sivakumar served as Clinical Assistant in the
Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at Leeds Dental
School Leeds, England and Senior House Officer in Oral Surgery
and Restorative Dentistry at the
Charles
Clifford
Dental
School,
Sheffield,
England.
At the
University of Connecticut School of Dental Medicine, he first
completed a two-year residency in Advanced General Dentistry
followed by a two-year Pediatric Dental residency program. In
addition, he enrolled in the graduate school and was awarded a
Master’s Degree in Dental Science by the
Graduate
School
of the
University
of
Connecticut.
He then accepted appointments as a Fellow in Pediatric Dentistry
at the University of Connecticut and at Yale-New Haven Hospital,
Yale University, where he served as faculty in the Department of
Surgery/Pediatric Dentistry for two years.
Dr.
Sivakumar currently serves as Assistant Professor in the
Department of Pediatric Dentistry at the University of Maryland
Dental School where he instructs dental students and residents
in pediatric dentistry. He is a medical staff member with
privileges at
Kernan
Hospital,
Frederick
Surgery
Center
and the
Shady
Grove
Adventist
Hospital.
A
native of
Madras,
India,
Dr. Sivakumar, (who is known to all as “Dr. Sivi”), his wife
(also a pediatric dentist) and daughter live in
Frederick.
His hobbies are racquetball and cricket. He also has a keen
interest in serving underprivileged and disadvantaged children.
Dr. Sivi is looking forward to building a happy, long and stable
relationship with his patients and families, and medical and
dental colleagues in
Frederick
and the surrounding communities.
Introducing Dr Savi....
 Dr.
Savithri Sivakumar, D.D.S., M.Dent.Sc has joined our
practice located at 57 A Thomas Johnson Drive, Frederick,
Maryland. She is a Board eligible Pediatric Dentist practicing
dentistry for the past 22 years.
Dr. Savi
graduated in 1987 from the Dental College at the University of
Madras, India. She worked as an honorary SHO at the Rotherham
General Hospital, Yorkshire, U.K. At the University of
Connecticut School of Dental Medicine where she completed a two
year Pediatric Dental residency and received a certificate in
the Specialty of Pediatric Dentistry in 1994. She also received
a Master's in Dental Science Degree in 1997 from the Graduate
School of the University of Connecticut.
Dr Savi
worked as faculty in the Department of Pediatric Dentistry, both
at the University of Connecticut and at the University of
Maryland, School of Dental Surgery.
A native
of Pondicherry, India, Dr. Savi, her husband Dr. Sivi, and
daughter Jhanavi live in Frederick. She is looking forward to
building a happy, long and stable relationship with our patients
and families, and medical and dental colleagues in Frederick and
the surrounding communities.
 Dr. Steve Lan
Dr. Steve Lan DDS, a native of the state
of Maryland and a proud
graduate form the first dental school in the world, the
University of Maryland Dental School. Following his dental
training, Dr. Steve had the privilege of serving veterans of the
U.S.
military at the Baltimore VA Hospital. However, during a dental
service externship to Mexico
where he worked with underprivileged children in the heart of Mexico City and surrounding areas, Dr. Steve
found his passion for working with the pediatric population.
Dr. Steve received his
pediatric dentistry specialty training at the Albert Einstein
Collage of Medicine and the Children’s Hospital at Montefiore in
Bronx, New York.
During his last year of residency, he received the prestigious
Leo M Davidoff Award for resident of the year for outstanding
achievement in at the teaching of medical residents.
Prior to joining Dr. Sivi, Dr.
Steve worked in private practice in
Brooklyn,
New York and
Northern Virginia.
Dr. Steve is a board eligible pediatric dentist and currently
serves as an attending at the Division of Pediatric Dentistry at
the Children’s Hospital at Montefiore.
Dr. Steve is married to his high school sweetheart, Laurel,
who practices as a PA in dermatology. They have two very fun
and energetic boys. During his spare time, Dr. Steve enjoys
spending time with his family and participating in sporting
events and outdoor activities. He also enjoys being involved
in his community and is an active in his local Boy Scouts of
America Troop.
 Dr.
Michael Kim is excited to join Dr. Sivi and the
Frederick Pediatric Dental Associates family. Dr Kim graduated
with Summa Cum Laude in State University of New York,
Binghamton
and received his dental degree from
Columbia
University,
College of Dental Medicine.
Dr. Kim also served in the Army
where he was awarded two Army Commendation Medals and Army
Achievement medals for his services.
Dr. Kim finished one year of general
practice residency at Albert Einstein College of Medicine/Montefiore
Medical Center in
Bronx, New York.
Dr Kim also received two years of
pediatric dentistry specialty training at Albert Einstein
College of Medicine and is a board eligible Pediatric Dentist.
Dr. Kim is a native of
Seoul, Korea
and is married to his long time friend, Erika, who is working on
her Ph.D. in Human Genetics at
Johns
Hopkins
University.
Dr. Kim enjoys playing basketball
during his spare time and also occasionally plays videogames.
Dr. Kim is happy to be part of the
Frederick Pediatric Dental Associates family and is eager to
build long lasting relationship with patients and colleagues in
the region.
